1. Fill out online grant application via AwardForce. Please be sure to submit the following as attachments with your AwardForce application or email requested supplemental documents to apply@k9s4cops.
2. Supplemental documents needed:
Letter of support on your agency letterhead. See attached for template
Your application will be reviewed by our team and, if further information is needed, a K9s4COPs team member will contact you. K9s are granted throughout the year and are determined based on need and if funding is available. If your agency is selected— you will receive a call from us and will be sent K9 grant acceptance paperwork that includes: a grant agreement to sign, agency contact information form, and a letter from your agency accepting the K9.
Note that all grantees will be asked to submit the following once your K9 has graduated from training and is working: annual health report, quarterly statistics, photos and/or stories we may use to promote why K9s are so important to our community, and a signed image release form so we may use the image of you and your K9 on our website and marketing material.
If you have not heard from us in one year from the application submission date, and your agency is still in need of a K9, please resubmit your application with any updated information. We are happy to answer any questions you have on the application process- please send any questions to firstname.lastname@example.org
or call 936-825-9900.
Please note: A K9s4COPs grant consists of a K9 and initial training for the K9 and its hander. We do not offer monetary grants. Please note that we do not train K9s or accept dogs as donations. Our K9s come from approved and licensed K9 facilities and trainers that specialize in working dogs and are able to provide a broad selection of K9s for our grantees to select from. We go through lengthy measures to ensure that recipients are satisfied with their K9 selections and that they receive all necessary documentation including health certificates, required certifications, and passports.
Want to hold your own K9s4COPs fundraiser to help fund your K9?
Then consider one of these great ways listed below to help your agency get a K9 quicker. Please note that your agency MUST be interviewed by one of our team members before you start fundraising to ensure your agency is eligible for a K9 grant.
Start a virtual fundraiser for your agency:
This is where we set up an online fundraiser for your agency on the K9s4COPs website and you spread the word to your community to help contribute towards the cost of your K9. All the 100% tax deductible donations will go directly to K9s4COPs and be saved as restricted funds for the purchase of a K9 for your department. Once you reach your goal (or amount it costs to pay for the K9 and training— then a K9 will be granted to your agency). This might be a faster way to get a K9 granted— if you can rally your community behind you. We can get an online fundraiser set up for you and add your department logo to personalize it.
Host your own special event:
Plan your own K9s4COPs special event such as a fun run, bowling competition, golf tournament or anything you can dream up and present a check to K9s4COPs after event.
Ask local business to sponsor your K9:
Another alternative way to help fund your K9 is to go directly to the businesses in your community and ask them to sponsor your K9 with a donation to K9s4COPs. They will get the opportunity to name your K9.
